Ten things in my Bucket List

Wake up, Brush up, Rush up, and Work up. So many ‘Ups’ makes me wonder sometimes what’s there in my bucket list. Life is too short. Time flies like a falcon bird and you never know when it just passed by with the blink of an eye. But before the bird flies away I would like to spread my wings and do these ten things in my life.

ü  Bucket wishlist 1: Write a book
I want to write a fictional story for kids with spectacular twists and turns which can take anyone to a fantasy island where everything is possible.

ü  Bucket wishlist 2: Go to Manali with my better half
Mountains always allure me. Till date, I had the opportunity to visit the mountains only in Discovery Channel and on the Internet. One day, I wish to visit Manali in person with my spouse and discover the ardent beauty of the mountain peaks which always wears a cloak of ice every time.

ü  Bucket wishlist 3: Listen to VS Naipul, LIVE!
This year I missed the opportunity at the Jaipur Literature Festival, but would definitely like to listen to this literary genius in his baritone voice.

ü  Bucket wishlist 4: Go on a foreign trip with parents
They have given their heart and soul throughout their life to bring me up. Though I will remain indebted to them forever in my life, but I would definitely like to take them to a foreign trip at my own expense.

ü  Bucket wishlist 5: Visit all my schools
Throughout my childhood, from Kindergarten to Higher Secondary, I have changed three schools but I never had the opportunity to revisit any one of them once I became an ex-student. Hence, revisiting all my schools would definitely be one of my bucket list wishes.

ü  Bucket wishlist 6: Get clicked with John Abraham
I would like to meet John Abraham in person and would like to get fitness tips from him.

ü  Bucket wishlist 7: Donate a lump sum amount to an NGO
Though I have donated money to an NGO but the amount was very miniscule. Once I have sufficient amount of money in my Savings I would like to donate a hefty amount of money to an NGO.

ü  Bucket wishlist 8: Adopt an orphan
I hate it whenever I see orphans left in abundant or tottering at roadsides. If I ever get an opportunity I would definitely like to adopt an orphan and even take his or her responsibility.

ü  Bucket wishlist 9: Give an inspirational speech

And at the end, I want to give a 3 minute soliloquy that will sum up the experiences of my life if ever I am successful to be that great as a person.

ü  Bucket wishlist 10: Take a bath in ice cold water
Now that might seem to be a bit weird but again this is one of my crazy bucket wishlists.

A big risk that changed my life

‘You have to take risks in life’ I had heard this phrase many times during my growing up years but I never applied this phrase ever in my life until and unless I took a bold step or more precisely ‘a big risk.’

After completing my Masters in business I started searching for jobs. Like any other fresher I uploaded my resumes on a number of websites (starting from an internship, fresher to an experienced one).  After a month long search, I even received calls from some good companies. I appeared for the interviews, but a lack of expertise in dealing with numbers made me the first candidate to appear in the ‘Not selected ’list. Moreover, 0 years of experience was the cheery on the cake to make the recruiters least interested in my resume.

After three months of rigorous job hunt, followed by the gruesome schedule of giving interviews every day, I finally gave up hope. There was not a tinge of positivity left inside me.

So, it was one fine Sunday, I got a mail from a recruiting consultant that read ‘’Required Content Writers with an impeccable hold over English Language.” A relatively new term to a novice like me it first sounded to me something which was related to creative writing. Just a year back, I started my blog and was a newbie in the writing industry. I decided to give it a try because somewhere deep inside me I had this confidence that I had the ability to play and weave with words to produce not a great but definitely a good content.

Hence, I decided to give it a try with minimal hope of reply. A few days after applying, I got a call. The interviewer was very impressed with one of my blogs and agreed to hire me as a Content Writer. Since then, I have learnt the tricks and trade of Content Writing. I have graduated to even better and creative forms of writing and now I am working as a Copywriter.

Today, as I look back to that first day when I took a life changing decision to pursue writing as a profession I feel proud of myself. It was a big risk which I took in my life without thinking of the consequences that it can have in my career. I always believe that there are very few people in life who can take up their passion as a job and I am one of those lucky persons who is now following his passion.

Dum Lagake Haisha – A romantic drama with a midas 90s touch

Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi  Padnekar, Sanjay Mishra

Director: Sharat Katariya

It was a fully paisa wasool moment for me and the audience at the theatre watching the recently released Yashraj romantic flick – Dum Lagake Haisha. Set in the beautiful city of Haridwar, the film encapsulates the everyday affair in an Indian family trying to make ends meet while enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

Chandrabhan Tiwari (Sanjay Mishra) has a small cassette shop run by his son Prem Prakash Tiwari (Ayushmann Khurana) – a diehard Kumar Sanu fan. Like any other Indian father, Chandrabhan is worried about his son’s marriage. Prem Prakash on the other hand seems to be quite unhappy with the marriage proposition right now, but he has to surrender before the wishes of his ever dominating father.  They finally zero in one of the brides and the marriage is finally fixed.

Problem starts after marriage when Prem Prakash and his wife Sandhya (played by Bhumi Padnekar) find it difficult to continue their marriage life even after Sandhya’s repeated attempts to make love between them be it by playing English movies with steamy scenes , wearing nighties or moving too close to her husband when they sleep at night. Frustrated with his unsuccessful life, Prem Prakash creates a ruckus after getting drunk in one of his friend’s wedding when he tells his friend about his fat wife.  Sandhya overhears the conversation and finding it vulgar she slaps him.

Feeling hopeless and insulted, Sandhya returns back to her house and files a divorce against her husband. A six month period is given to them to make up. While they incessantly try to patch up with each other the ‘Dum Lagake Haisha’ competition brings them closer to each other and finally it ends to a happily ever after love story.

Sanjay Mishra adds spark to the film with his superb acting skills and makes it more real. His witty character will make you laugh your heart out.  Kudos to Bhumi Phadnekar for making it big in her debut film and bring a real life in the character of Sandhya Verma. It won’t come as a surprise if she wins the best debutant actor award this year. Ayushmann Khurrana, the male protagonist will take you by surprise as he graduates to another level of acting as he does full justice to his character, Prem Prakash Tiwari. And last but not the least is Kumar Shanu. Yes, he has not acted in the movie except his entry in the stage at the end of the film, but has surely kept the audience intact with his soulful melodious numbers.

A must watch for everyone, the film has got the dum to make u say HAISAA!
