Diwali is rightly
called the festival of lights. The bursting of crackers, the snake like dance
of the rockets in the sky, the enlightening of diyas across the balconies of neighborhoods
really enchantes your mind and fills it up with immense joy and pleasure. Well,
this is a time when your cell phone is not only flooded with messages but also
your social networking arena(facebook, twitter etc) is decorated with the
pictures tagging the names of all your favorite friends, near and dear ones
exchange gifts and warm greetings. It begins with Dhanteras and ends with Bhaubeej
or Bhai Dooj.
The word Diwali not
only reminds us about the firecrackers but also reminds us of our rich Indian
heritage and culture. For the Hindus Diwali is the celebration of the return of
Lord Rama from exile after 14 years, for the Sikhs it is the celebration of the
return of Guru Hargobind Singh from imprisonment, for the Jains it is a
celebration as Lord Mahavira who was the last Jain Tirthankar attained Moksha
for the Bengalis it is the celebration of Kali Puja and for the south Indians
it is a day when Lord Krishna killed the devil Narakasura on the same day. Well,
the list is just endless Deepavali or Diwali means a celebration for everyone. Hence,
Diwali is a reason of celebration for everyone .This is a festival where there
are no caste and creed boundaries and where everyone enjoys equally the festival
with immense pleasure, excitement and joy.
The festival is
celebrated with the same enthusiasm all over the world as is in India. You will
be amazed to know that in countries like, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad, Tobago,
Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar and Fiji Diwali is declared as an
official holiday. Well, the spiritual significance of Diwali is the awakening of
the inner light inside the human body that is the filling of purity in mind and
also the victory of good over evil. The festival spreads a social message to us
and that is “open your arms and spread all the love and happiness to others , forgive
everyone for their sins and shower your warmth and love in a way which will wash
away all the badness and evilness in yourself and everyone around you.
HAPPY DIWALI TO YOU
ALL
